The Science of Pitcher Protection

LiVE ARM began with a simple question:

How can we objectively measure pitcher fatigue before injuries occur?

After training with the Philadelphia Phillies, Dr. Damian Andrisani has served as a team physician in the Washington Nationals and Kansas City Royals organizations. He is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine with over 20 years of clinical experience dealing with the devastating impact of preventable arm injuries on players and families.

His research revealed a critical insight: it’s not just pitch counts or velocity that predict injury risk – it’s the fatigue of the arm’s decelerating

muscles that is consistently identified in injured pitchers. The problem? No practical way to measure it existed.

LiVE ARM was born from this need – a portable, reliable, and scientifically validated device that measures the strength of this critical muscle group in a pitcher’s arm, creating the first objective measure of when a pitcher should rest or modify their training regime.

LiVE ARM is backed by years of clinical research and testing with college, high school, and professional pitchers. Our system has successfully identified at-risk pitchers before traditional methods could detect problems, with studies showing a strong correlation between decreased deceleration strength and subsequent injury.
